Step Lock: Earn Your Screen — last updated 11 August 2026

Step Lock is built so that the things that matter most about you never leave your phone. There is no account to create and no sign-in.

What stays on your device

• Step and motion data. Steps, distance, floors and walking duration are read from Apple's Core Motion pedometer and stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
• The apps you lock. Your selection is handled by Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. Apple gives the app opaque tokens rather than app names, so we cannot see which apps you chose — and neither can anyone we work with.
• Your settings and streaks. Goals, earned minutes, session history and streaks are stored on the device only.

What we collect

Step Lock uses Google Firebase for anonymous crash reports and basic usage analytics, so we can find bugs and see which features are used:

• Crash diagnostics — stack traces, device model, OS version.
• Product interaction — anonymous events such as "a session was started" or "the paywall was shown".
• Performance data — launch times and similar.
• A device identifier generated by Firebase, used to group events from one installation.

None of this includes your name, email, contacts, location, step counts, or the identity of the apps you lock. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising or tracking across other companies' apps.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether a purchase is active.

Children

Step Lock is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Your choices

• Deleting the app removes every piece of on-device data, including steps, settings and streaks.
• You can revoke Motion or Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings; the app keeps working with reduced functionality.
• To request deletion of collected analytics, email the address below.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will change and the new version will be published here before it takes effect.
